Glad Lake

Glad Lake is 70.4 hectares with a maximum depth of 39.9 meters and a mean depth of 10.8 meters. Glad Lake has 13 developed cottages and is in close proximity to 76 daily and 29 seasonal campsites within the Wellman Lake Provincial Campground. Targetable fish species present at Glad are arctic char, lake trout and northern pike. This deep clear waterbody has offered different angling opportunities over the years with trophy trout (lake, rainbow, char) and pike. Pike angling is best shortly after ice out in the shallow warmer bays. Angling for the lake trout can be challenging, but with a fish-finder, anglers have a chance at targeting them.

In 2017, arctic char were re-introduced to diversify angling opportunities in the area. To increase stocking success, an annual pike transfer program has been in place since 2015. More information on this can be found under the “Research” page. Angling facilities present are an established boat launch with dock, fishing dock with bench, filleting station, parking and informative signage.

Other great amenities nearby are at Wellman Lake Lodge which provides 5 lakefront fully-modern rental cabins, full-service RV sites, boat/canoe/paddleboat rentals, laundromat, restaurant, convenience/grocery store, gas and much more. Glad Lake being positioned within the Wellman Lake Provincial Campground provides access to tennis courts, large beach area, playground, swimming area, parking, modern and non-modern washrooms, hiking trail, full-service campground and so much more. More information on all services available within the campground can be found on the “Learn More” page under Manitoba Parks.
