Childs Lake
Child’s Lake is 845.6 hectares with a maximum depth of 57.7 meters and a mean depth of 16.7 meters. Child’s Lake is the largest waterbody in the Duck Mountain Provincial Park (MB) and one of the most developed with 78 cottages, 142 campsites (seasonal and daily), and 6 Yurts. Targetable fish species present include lake trout, northern pike, walleye and burbot. Angling facilities include 2 established boat launches with docks, 2 filleting shacks, parking and informative signage. Childs Lake Lodge & Outfitter has 6 available cabins for rent, along with boat rentals, a beverage room & patio, a convenience/grocery store, and a small engine repair shop. Child’s Lakes Provincial Campground facilities available are a beach area, playground, swimming area, parking, modern and non-modern washrooms, hiking trail, full-service campground and informative signage. With this lake being one of the few lake trout lakes in the Ducks, anglers visit here early spring and late fall with intentions of hooking onto a nice laker. All species can be temperamental, but with some time, testing strategies and a little bit of luck anglers can enjoying some great lake trout, pike and walleye fishing. Reaching out to the local cottage owners is a great way to gather some angling insight.
