Roaring River

The Roaring River begins from Wellman Lake, in the Duck Mountain Provincial Park. The river meanders north until it meets the Swan River which drains into Swan Lake. The Roaring River has been intermittently stocked with trout since 1950. Brook trout have been the most prominently stocked, with occasions of rainbow trout and most recently in 2016, brown trout. Lack of angler reports prompted an assessment in 2018 which indicated no survival of trout in reaches surveyed on the Roaring. Further investigations on over-wintering habitat is needed before this river may be stocked with trout again.
