Pickerel Lake

Pickerel Lake is 136.1 hectares with a maximum depth of 25.4 meters and a mean depth of 6.5 meters. Targetable fish species present are walleye and northern pike. Pickerel Lake is one of a few lakes in the area that has historically sustained a naturally recruiting walleye population. Even today, the lake receives no supplemental walleye stocking.

**Due to the nature of difficulty regarding access on backcountry lakes, launch access areas are restricted to small watercraft only.

Access

Located 69.6 km from Swan River, MB off of SK RD 980 in the Porcupine Mountain Provincial Forest. The distance from trailhead to Pickerel Lake is 3.5 km. The lake is located along an old haul road and is most commonly accessed by snowmobile in the winter months. It is not recommended to hike this trail in the summer because of damage created by ATVs, however, is still possible. This trail is not maintained, and therefore fallen trees may complicate passage.
