George Lake

George Lake is 77.7 hectares with a maximum depth of 6.9 meters and a mean depth of 2.6 meters. George Lake has an undeveloped boat launch and picnic area. Targetable fish species present are northern pike and the odd walleye. Because the access was recently developed by Parks, George Lake is now the perfect lake for a backcountry family outing. Pike are plentiful so be prepared for non-stop action.**Due to the nature of difficulty regarding access on backcountry lakes, launch access areas are restricted to small watercraft only.

Access

Located 80.2 km from Swan River, MB off of PR #366 in the Duck Mountain Provincial Park. The distance from trailhead to George Lake is 6.5 km. The lake is located along the Mossberry Lake ATV trail, which is minimally maintained by Manitoba Parks. Nowadays, the lake is most commonly accessed by ATV in the summer months and snowmobile in the winter months. During dry periods, the trail is also promoted for use by hikers and cyclists. The trail may be unexpectedly closed following heavy rainfalls or during wet periods. It is recommended that the Park’s Office at Blue Lakes be contacted for trail updates and to Check-In if you intend to camp at any of the backcountry camping areas along the trail.
